Literally syndication means a group of individuals or organizations combined or making a joint effort to undertake some specific duty or carry out specific transactions or negotiations. In today’s world, in most of the cases, typically the word syndication is applied in order to express collaboration of performing some unfair and unethical economic and political activities derived from injustice, greediness, unfair domination, oppression and deprivation. But according to the literal meaning the word, syndication is also applicable in all sorts of good deeds.
In human nature there are some lacking in good sense, immoral and wicked personal characteristics or behavior which are termed as human follies and vices. Naturally human beings are envious with other’s success, they are vindictive, they are selfish in nature, very little forgiveness, there are greediness, try to avail everything alone, they have few patience, always choose the best for himself, they are authoritarian, they are ungrateful, forget many things very soon, they always make hurry in everything and many more. Mixture of those follies and vices are not same in every people in terms of volume. The less will be the ingredients the more will be the power of humanity.
The vices hiding in human mind always try their best to misguide them to the wrong path. On the contrary- conscience, fear of being humiliated, shame, fine, imprisonment, capital punishment and above all fear of punishment of the believers in the life hereafter suppress those vices to a tolerable level. Greed is the source of all misconducts and injustices. Human being has a universal and spontaneous attraction towards power, money, property, beautiful men or women, beautiful home and new model cars. This exists more or less in all human being. Greed for money is the highest kind of greed. Because money can fulfill almost all materialistic desires of a human being that leads to recklessness and arrogance derived from that power of money. They try to gain all of those through individual or syndicated efforts.
In today’s human society the practice of humanity and conquering the vices are reducing day by day. Mutual respect comes out of fear not from the core of heart. Selfishness is everywhere. Tolerance, mutual respect, social etiquette, manner are losing its minimum standard and norms. Humanity has become absolutely the slave of money and muscle power. Basic human rights, individual property rights are being violated very much tactfully in the name of business, combating terrorism and the thriving power of corporate colonialism. And everything is being accomplished through international syndication.
This is also obvious that the syndication of rich countries is very much resolute and they are desperate in defending their economic interest, political influence, military might all over the world at any cost in the form of various organizations. In order to implement their dominion and influence they demonstrate the arms power, invest huge money on arms race, sometimes they apply their powerful syndication of intelligence network and most effectively try to gain full control over the dissidents or some collaborators through syndication providing them with money and other facilities and recruit them for implementing their agenda in their targeted land, people and various natural resources.
Most of the cases syndication is applied in controlling the market and prices of products and services for getting more profits from those products and services. Consumers and customers are here is simply the hostage and they have nothing to do against those syndicates.
Various types of extortion through syndication are widely visible all over the country. Mostly the transport sector is highly victimized. Thousands of millions of Taka are obtained daily from all over the country. In the battle of upholding domination in this sector many people are being murdered each year. Almost all of those syndication activities are politically colored, influenced and motivated. The chain of beneficiaries is very long here. Therefore, rule of law cannot play any positive role there. No legal action can be taken against them.
Looting bank’s money or state-owned foreign reserve trough syndication has become highly alarming. Willful defaulters, money launderers, smugglers, are the key players of this syndication network. But this is like a cancer cell for the economic backbone of a nation. Financial Institutions (FI) cannot survive without honesty and trustworthiness. Because FIs mobilize money from the ordinary depositors, invest that money, make profit both for the depositions as well as for own through managing various core risks related with market, management and money. As the banks do business with the depositor’s money, they have to create a strong capital base collecting from various sources before the commencement of its business in order to manage any kind of core risk. So, this sector is highly sensitive. Any kind of corruption and immorality could bring a fatal collapse of that sector.
Education sector is also within the network of negative syndication both in teaching and fair appointment of meritorious teachers. Once upon a time, honest and meritorious students would come to the teaching profession. At present, the number is absolutely minimal. Because political identity, money, muscle power are the main criteria in appointing teacher from primary school to public universities. As a result, legendary teachers are not found in the educational institutions. Now education has become simply a profitable business. As a result, the students have become disrespectful towards the teacher and lost their moral and ethical values.
Syndication of doctors, brokers, private clinic and diagnostic centers has created a great anarchy in the healthcare sector. Good and improved medical care has now turned into a nightmare. In order to take a high-quality treatment, a patient may have to lose his or her lifetime income just in a week. Government medical colleges are the only hope for treatment of poor and lower middle class people. The Government is providing huge subsidies for making medicine and treatment available at a lower cost. But mysteriously life-saving expensive drugs are not always available and most of the time the diagnostic laboratory remains inoperative. As a result, the syndication of brokers persuades and sometimes makes them bound to get admitted in to private hospitals.
But why we do not utilize syndication power positively? Why are we making syndication only in misdeeds, but not in good deeds? Syndication in good deeds is also found in the society, but they are not getting more support and recognition morally and financially. Their presence is not highly visible in the society due to many other unknown reasons.
If we can make syndication in making extortion in transport sector, we can also make syndication for stopping extortion, providing comfortable services to the passengers, stopping adulteration in food and stopping drug trafficking in order to rescue the young generation from ultimate destruction. Here only changing mindset positively and raising the sense of conscience is required.
In the same way, we can provide more quality education to the students reducing their dependency on private tuition and coaching. We can also make syndication in increasing moral and ethical values among students through various creative ways rather than making them consumerist, terrorist, extortionist, or characterless.
Similarly, in the healthcare sector we can be friendlier and more compassionate to the patients making healthcare services affordable, easily available and free form harassment and poor services to the patient. We can apply syndication for stopping brokers from shifting patients from public hospitals to the private clinics making all treatment and diagnosis cheap and available there.
We can also make syndication for helping the poor, homeless, indebted person, poor meritorious students, orphans and all other underprivileged people in the society. Syndication is also possible in rescuing others from great danger, counseling for psychological relief and providing legal support to the helpless.
Before doing syndication in good deeds and making its presence highly visible, influential and powerful in the society first of all we should get out of all sorts of follies and vices. So we should not be envious to each other’s success. We should prefer those things for others that we prefer for me. We should keep others unhurt from our tongue and hands controlling endless greed. We should increase our compassion and solidarity. Above all we have to value our honesty and conscience over all other little and transient worldly benefit. Only then we can make our family, society as well as the whole world a peaceful place for living.
